Attack on internal security forces in Aleppo

	NEWS CENTER – Two people were injured in an attack on Aleppo internal security forces. 

	The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo’s Seihkmaqsud and Eshrefiye neighbourhoods announced that armed groups affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government’s Ministry of Defence had attacked a joint checkpoint of the Aleppo Internal Security Forces and Transitional Government forces at the Shihan Junction in Aleppo. 

	 

	According to the statement, two members of the Aleppo Internal Security Forces were injured in the attack.

	 

	It is noteworthy that the attack coincided with the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defence Minister Yasar Guler to Damascus. 

	 

	'ARMED ATTACK REPULSED'

	 

	The Internal Security Forces Press Centre, responsible for the Sheikhmaqsud and Eshrefiye neighbourhoods of Aleppo, issued a written statement regarding the armed attack on the joint security checkpoint at the Shihan Junction. The statement said that the attack attempt by armed groups affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government was repelled by the forces. The Internal Security Forces said, “The cowardly attack attempt by armed groups affiliated with the Transitional Government in Aleppo has been prevented.” 

	 

	The statement reported that two members of the Internal Security Forces were injured in the attack and emphasised that the forces acted within the framework of their legitimate right to self-defence, noting that a controlled and measured response was given in order to prevent the conflict from escalating and to protect the safety of civilians.  The statement added: “We are ready to stand against any threat or provocation. We will take all necessary measures to protect our members and the areas under our responsibility. We declare once again that we will not remain silent in the face of any attack or threat.” 

	 

	ATTACKS WITH ARTILLERY AND MORTARS CONTINUE

	 

	Meanwhile, according to local sources, armed groups affiliated with the Transitional Government are currently attacking the neighbourhoods of Sheikhmaqsud and Eshrefiye with artillery and mortars. 

	 

	During the attacks and artillery fire by armed forces affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government on the neighbourhoods of Sheikhmaqsud and Eshrefiye, an 8-year-old child named Aydil Elî and the child's father, Henan Abdulhamid (20), Dicle Osman Omer (34), Doxan Elo (18), and Abdulhamid Islamil (48) were injured. 

	 

	While fierce clashes are taking place between Internal Security Forces and armed groups affiliated with the Transitional Government around the Sheikhmaqsud and Eshrefiye neighbourhoods of Aleppo, citizens' homes are also being bombed with heavy weapons.
