NEWS CENTER – The İmralı Delegation made a statement on its meeting with Abdullah Öcalan. It was stated that Öcalan said that "Democratic society, peace and integration are the three key concepts of this process."

 

Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party İmralı Delegation consisting of Wan (Van) MP Pervin Buldan, Riha (Urfa) MP Mithat Sancar and Asrin Law Office lawyer Faik Özgür Erol met with Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan yesterday. 

 

A statement was made about the 3-hour meeting. The statement reads: 

 

"To the press and public,  

 

On 28 August 2025, we had a three-hour meeting with Mr Öcalan in İmralı. Mr Öcalan was extremely healthy and in good spirits. 

 

During the meeting, he made comprehensive evaluations on the stages of the Peace and Democratic Society process and the point reached. He stated that the problem we are experiencing requires a serious and sensitive intervention in order to end it completely and that they have brought the process to this day by carrying out the process with this sensitivity. Our aim was to do our best to bring a painful process to an end, he said. 

He stressed, Democratic society, peace and integration is the three key concepts of this process and that it can reach a conclusion on this basis. For this, he emphasised the need for a new phase in which steps are taken urgently in all dimensions. 

 

Mr Öcalan stated that his preference has always been for an integration based on a democratic republic and a democratic society, and that understanding and embracing this strategic move would benefit all of us, all of Turkey.

It is clear that the simplification of dismissal of this preference in some political and media circles is damaging to this process. 

 

On this occasion, he once again expressed his great faith in the eternal friendship and peace between the peoples.
