NEWS CENTER -  24 women's organizations and political parties in Kurdistan came together and formed the Kurdish Women's Unity Platform.

24 women's organizations and political parties in Kurdistan came together and formed the Kurdish Women's Unity Platform. In a statement, the signatories said: "We are living through a historical process in which a new world system is being shaped. In World War I, the reshaping of the world system involved the construction of nation states in the Middle East and the division of Kurdistan. A century later we have entered a period of reshaping that results in the fall of nation states. Those who did this were the freedom struggle that our people, who lived under occupation and genocide for a hundred years, waged in all four parts of Kurdistan facing immense pain."

Following the statement reads: "The Kurdish people through their loyalty for freedom and relentless struggle, have brought down the system of occupation and genocide. However, at this moment in history there are both dangers and great opportunities to win freedom.
In the First World War, as well as many other nations (peoples), demands for state-building were made on the Kurdish people as well, and border lines were drawn, but the presidents of the Kurdish people remained only focused on the borders of their own regions, did not move towards unity, and the result of the Lausanne agreement was the division into four parts and the taking away of the motherland. For this reason, for this period to end in the interests of the Kurdish people with victory, the primary thing needed is for national unity to be achieved. If it is not realised, our people will not forgive the absence of political will. For us Kurdish women, national unity is linked to the meaning of freedom and dignity.

Colonised Kurdistan is a consequence of the colonisation of women's bodies. Kurdish Women in these hundred years have lived under brutal colonisation, fury, massacre and abduction. Colonialism is a problem for women and the first condition for the realisation of women's freedom is the liberation from colonialism. The division of the people is the basis for the continuation of colonialism, which is also why the division of the people is a women's dignity issue. The primary way to remove the reasons for the violence and enslavement of women is unity in Kurdistan and mutual action in the union of the people. That is why national unity for us Kurdish women is a struggle for freedom.

On this basis, we as members of 24 women's organisations and political parties from the four parts of Kurdistan came together under the name “Kurdish Women's National Unity Assembly” for the development and construction of national unity. We do not see the unity of the people in a limited sense through the union of political parties, we will develop it on the basis of democratic organisation and democratic political unity. National unity is developed in all segments of society, the economy, politics, culture, education, law, municipalities, parliament and cultural unions.

Every year, a Kurdish Women's Festival is organised in one part of Kurdistan. A network of collective cooperation will be built for children victims of war and poverty in the four parts of Kurdistan. A conference of the nation's Kurdish women will be organised within a short period. To put these decisions into practice, we organise ourselves in the 'Kurdish Women's Unity Platform'.

As Kurdish Women's Unity we call all women politicians, women's movements and organisations in Kurdistan and the diaspora to participate in this platform. Unite, together we will build the national union as an expression of the desire for freedom and egalitarian mentality and as a great mission to defend the motherland and the people.

In Kurdistan without national unity no politics and struggle can win. History has given us all the proof of this; it is necessary for Kurdish women and the Kurdish people to put national unity into practice this time, otherwise every division will be a reason for the continuation of colonisation and the loss of profit. We must realise national unity, then the freedom of Kurdistan and the status of free women will rise on our land like the sun. Come together we will make this sun rise on our land.

National unity is at the same time the development of Kurdish democracy. Division stems from the failure of the Kurdish people's democracy to progress. Unity is this, that different people come together, recognise common problems and find common solutions. Now is the time for the Kurds' common thought to be realised. That the destiny of our Kurdish people and women is not the pain and oppression of division. We appeal to every person to move with great virtue for national unity, to give their sacrifices and not to be limited. As free Kurdish women and men, as well as every free people, we deserve to live in unity with freedom and equality."
