ANKARA – Women from Kurdistan and many cities in Turkey gathered in Ankara for the “Peace March”. However, the women's march is being prevented by the police.
Women gathered in Ankara with the demand for "peace" under the leadership of Women's Initiative "I Need Peace". Women travelling to Ankara from many cities gathered in Güvenpark and wanted to march to the Parliament.
However, the police did not allow women arriving in buses to go down to the park. The police stopped the buses carrying women and threatened the drivers that "we will tie up your vehicles".
Upon this threat, some drivers tried to withdraw their vehicles. When the women got off the buses and wanted to march, the drivers did not open the doors due to police pressure and prevented the women from getting off the buses. Reacting to the blockage, the vehicles with the women were taken to the Çankaya gate of the Parliament.
A group of women got off the vehicles and started to march towards the Parliament despite the obstacles.
