NEWS CENTER — Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli has said he expects the ongoing work related to the peace process to be completed by the end of the year.
Bahceli made the remarks during a meeting with Gulseven Media Group Chair Necat Gulseven and Tv100 Editor-in-Chief Deniz Gurel at the MHP headquarters in Ankara.
Commenting on the political process aimed at resolving the Kurdish issue, Bahceli underlined the significance of the initiative and stressed the importance of support from all political parties for the parliamentary commission established to oversee the process.
Bahceli noted that the “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” made by imprisoned Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan had opened the door to positive developments. He described the disarmament and destruction of weapons by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as a constructive step.
Emphasizing the unity of the peoples of Turkey, Bahceli said the MHP is committed to contributing to a climate of peace with sincerity. He added that the relevant work regarding the process is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
