It is announced that Emine Erciyes, Star Free Women's Unions (Yekîneyên Jinên Azad ên Star-YJA Star) Central Headquarters Command member Emine Erciyes died in an air raid to Garê region of Başûrê Kurdistan (South Kurdistan-Iraq) on April 20, 2020.
People's Defense Unit (Hêzên Parastina Gel-HPG) Press Liaison Centre made a declaration and stated that Emine Erciyes joined the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) from the foothills of Erciyes Mountain as a child of the Turkish people and fought uninterruptedly for 24 years. In the rest of the statement, it was emphasised that Emine Erciyes demonstrated the strong stance of a free woman.
The statement said that Emine Erciyes, as a revolutionary from Turkey, was a genuine socialist and internationalist revolutionary whose heart beat with the Kurdish people and all oppressed peoples. The statement said that Emine Erciyes assumed important responsibilities in the PKK and added: "With her versatile and colourful personality, from poetry to theatre, from music to acting in films, she showed that guerrillaism is not just about fighting and is the greatest model of free life."
